Goodwill Gulf Coast receives $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of South Alabama for Skilled Trades Training

Goodwill Gulf Coast has been awarded a $25,000 grant from the Community Foundation of South Alabama (CFSA) to support skilled trades training by the South Alabama Homebuilding Academy (SAHA).

SAHA is a nonprofit organization that provides hands-on, short-term training to individuals seeking to enter the residential construction industry. Their Construction Skills Bootcamps include skills training in hand and power tools, safety, construction math, print reading, hands-on experience building projects, career and resume preparation, along with focused training in carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or roofing.

Funding from CFSA will help Goodwill Gulf Coast provide wraparound services that address barriers graduates may face when starting employment or transitioning into new careers. The grant will also support skilled trades training labs, as well as the materials and supplies needed for the Construction Skills Bootcamps. In addition, funding will provide incentives that reward participants for program completion and successful job placement in the industry.
